When to start writing a family history book

I am one of those who believe that the best way to preserve the research we have done into our family ancestry is to write it down.
If you want your descendants to be interested in what you have done it has to be presented in a way in which they will find interesting.  So a family history book rather than a gedcom on a CD is the answer.
But when to start writing if you think that you haven't finished your research?
My suggestion is when you hit one of those proverbial brick walls.
Over the years it has been suggested that when you hit a brick wall you should turn to another line of your ancestry for a time and then come back to the blocked one.
I suggest that the brick wall is the current end of your story and that you should start writing.
Even if the blockage is not very far down your line, their is still a story there.
Not enough for a book, you think? Then write a short story and include it with others to make a book.
The important thing is to start writing.
